News: 2.15.05

sorry i haven't been updating. there's been a lot of major changes here in aardvarkland. first and foremost, i'll be performing live on the air on WRCT on wednesday, 2.23. you can listen to an .mp3 stream on the website, starting at 9pm, so please tune in, particularly those of you who live in lands far away from me, so otherwise you never have the live pancreatic aardvarks experience :-) a super-big thanks to Minmei of My Boyfriend The Pilot for helping me land this gig. Speaking of gigs with My Boyfriend The Pilot, we haven't set the next one up yet, but we've been doing free shows at Kiva Han on Craig Street on a fairly regular basis. If you'd like to play with us some time, please drop an e-mail to shows@gnarphlager.com we're looking for more electronic-based acts, and we'll be setting up an info page for this series really soon. promise. and last, but certainly not least, there is a very good chance that the next album, Courage To Let Go, will be an actual pressed cd rather than a mediocre looking cd-r. I'm researching options right now, and what it boils down to is this: if I can manage to sell around 200 copies, then I can afford to do this. what i would like from you, who are kind enough to be reading this page, is suggestions. how do you think i can go about this? if i was offering a pressed cd (i really don't want to sell them for more than $10. I think that is a good price for a cd), would you buy one? do you think your friends would? let me know what you think at courage@gnarphlager.com as a special gift, here is one of the more polished demos, for the song Danger Of A Speedy Departure. At this stage, it's just guitars, but I'll be adding some electronics and synths on top as the album progresses. I'm pretty proud of the way this demo sounds, and i'm polishing the next draft even more. i believe this will be my best sounding (and easily most melodic!) album yet. thanks for listening!

First and foremost, yet another show that you should go to. To those who have been kind enough to catch the last few, it will be an entirely different set, including some older material that i've never performed live before. I've also been hired as a busker for pittsburgh's first night celebration, though i'll be performing Gallows Tree material. New album is slowly but surely coming together, it will be worth the wait, i swear! Last but not least, I have a track appearing on an upcoming compilation on Void Rekordz in Portugal. The track is called "bitter fruit" and the compilation is called The Sound of Nothingness. Keep an eye out for it! Thanks for listening!

Been pretty busy here. First things first, I have a couple shows coming up on 10.27 and 10.29, both very different so be sure to catch them if you can. I'm working on a new album called Courage To Let Go...lots of spacey melodic guitar tied together with droney ambient music. The demos sounded fantastic, and I'm arranging and recording songs as fast as I can to hopefully have something for the show. I've recorded a few more soundtrack pieces; soon I'll put up a page where you can hear some of that work; it's quite different from the usual Pancreatic Aardvarks stuff, but some of it has been interesting. Oh, and the show on the 27th is a split set with My Boyfriend The Pilot so be sure not to miss that! Thanks for listening!

Okay, Asocial Studios, gnarphlager records and Pancreatic Aardvarks have relocated to the Highland Park area. So time for important news! The next show will be on monday, 7.12 opening for Landing, who are fantastic, at Garfield Artworks. 8pm show, so be there and bring friends! Also performing will be Sun Tornado and Circadia. My other band, Gallows Tree also has an upcoming show on July 15th at the Rex Theatre. If you go to either of these shows, I will have copies of the ninth album, "Shine: Prelude". Yeah, Shine has turned into a greater beast than I can rightfully handle. It will be available via the website next month, but for now, I hope to see you at the shows!

News: 05.12.04

Immediate, important news: there will be a show on Wednesday the 19th to celebrate the release of the Current 93 tribute cd...meaning I'm finally going to do a show with Vequinox. I hope to see all of you there. There will be a special cd release for that show. Shine, you ask? Not quite. I've decided to split Shine up into a couple parts, and the first will be available on the 19th. It will be called Shine: Prelude. Depending on how the rest of the tracks end up, it will either be two or three cds when complete. More news as things happen. As always, e-mail me if you'd like to be kept up to date, and thanks for listening!

Okay, quite a bit going on in the Aardvarks camp! I'm entering the final final final final FINAL mixing stages of Shine. One of the tracks got bumped, and that's looking like it might turn into a new project altogether. Speaking of new projects, check out Gallows Tree, my latest endeavor. Spiffy if you like acoustic music, I think. I'll be performing on 4.24.04 at Art All Night at 10pm, so if you're in the neighborhood, drop by! The folks at Bunkier ended up not using my track, so that will probably surface sometime soon. Thanks for listening!

Sorry about the last minute update, but things have been very hectic here in Aardvarkland. Most importantly, I have another show at Kiva Han on the 21st. It's a saturday, so you should all be there. The weather is getting a little better, so I'll be out busking again in oakland (usually near the pitt law school around noon-1pmish) very soon. I mostly do traditional (mostly scottish) songs and originals. Also, I have a track on an upcoming compilation that Bunkier Productions are going to be releasing in Poland. Worth checking out. Hopefully in the next f ew weeks I'll have some more exciting news...I'll keep you posted. Thanks for listening!

More news, more news! I have a SHOW coming up! Once again at Garfield Artworks, once again with Powder French who are amazing, possibly with Jordan Decay, who is one of the nicest guys I know, and definitely with Panicsville, who I haven't heard, but they're from Chicago and from the photos I've seen online will at least be a fun show! Show starts at 8, I'm likely up first again so get there early, get there often.

News: 08.16.03

Okay, so once again i've reworked all of "shine" and will hopefully be releasing it soon. It does sound much better now. With each album I've done I've been happy with the sound...until I did the next one and learned some important lessons. Live and learn, I suppose, but I'd like to be able to just get it right the first time. Anyhoo, lessons I've learned are fully documented in a track on an upcoming tribute to Current 93 to be released in October on Sweet Farewell records. I did a cover of "Judas As Black Moth" from Introduction to Suffering, as well as a shorter version on Soft Black Stars. Two albums you should own if you don't already. I think my track sounds good, and Vequinox are also appearing. They're wonderful people and great musicians, so I can't wait to hear what they did. I'll have copies or you could buy it from the label. If you do, make sure you mention Pancreatic Aardvarks. Because I love you. Honest. I'm not just saying that this time.

News: 04.26.03

Shadowkiller is finally finished! And available! Go take a look/listen to it right now! I might have something new next week as well, but i don't want to say too much about that right now. Other projects in the works: a scottish folk project with my friend april; we don't have a name as of yet. Also, I may be doing a remix for Soviet, which would be neat. They are fun. I've landed a couple soundtrack jobs for this summer, so by this time next year you'll be able to hear pancreatic aardvarks music in movies. tell me how much THAT rocks!

News: 03.16.03

Well, well, been a bit out of it. Spent way too much time in preparatin for the last show, but I believe that it paid off. The set went well and was relatively well received. I'm rather excited by the prospect of the next show, so go check it out, and I hope to see you there. So album-wise? "shine" is coming close to completion. Finally. "lights/stars" is pissing me off right now, so i've abandoned it. Maybe I'll work on it later. "Shadowkiller" is almost finished, just a bit more mixing. With any luck, I'll have that and "shine" ready for the next show.

News: 11.09.02

Big news, of course, is the website here going live. Also, Fever Dreams and Something to Connect are available for purchase, for those of you interested in it. Fever Dreams is something else. In the works, I have an album of ambient synths/guitars in the vein of "making contact" from Something To Connect called "Lights/Stars". Doing the final mixes of that, so hopefully I'll have it up here in a few weeks. Eventually I'll get around to finishing Shine, as well as the remix ep for the title song. Might do a remix ep of one of the Lights/Stars songs; I haven't decided yet. Also, I've recorded a few pretty harsh power electronics songs. Some of the nastiest stuff I've done yet. And I have another ambient album that I'm nearly done writing, I just need to record. If you want to be informed of new happenings, and not miss my next show, send me an e-mail, and I'll hook you up. Thanks again for your continued interest and support!
